Essays on tools for thought

by Alex Kimura

Preview of Marginalia, a blog

Description

Marginalia started as a weekend experiment and turned into the thing I actually use. It is an essays on tools for thought, drawn editorial, and deliberately small: one screen, one job, no settings page.

  • Real data from the first commit — no fixtures
  • Errors say what happened and what to do
  • Accessible: labelled, focusable, and readable at 200% zoom

The whole thing is Cursor and Astro and about a week of evenings. The hardest part was not the build — it was deciding what to leave out.

It is finished in the sense that I use it daily and have stopped changing it.

Workflow

  1. Generated the first pass in Cursor

Iterated on the prompt rather than on the output — fixing the generated code by hand meant losing the fix on the next regeneration.
